JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Overview:
The Investment Manager (Project Finance & Capital Markets) will lead the investment strategy, project financing, and capital market transactions for Pacifico Energy Vietnam. This role is instrumental in securing funding for a portfolio of renewable energy and infrastructure projects, structuring financial solutions, and participating in investment decision-making for newly originated projects.
As Pacifico expands its project pipeline, this position will oversee project selection, feasibility assessment, and financial structuring, ensuring that all investments align with the company’s strategic objectives. The position will engage with banks, DFIs, private equity investors, and government entities to develop and execute a scalable, bankable investment portfolio.
Key responsibility
- Project Finance & Portfolio Structuring
- Lead financing efforts for a portfolio of renewable energy and infrastructure projects, optimizing capital allocation across multiple developments including project financial risk assessment and risk mitigation
- Structure non-recourse, limited-recourse, and corporate-backed financing solutions for projects.
- Work with commercial banks, development finance institutions (IFC, ADB, DFC, World Bank), sovereign wealth funds, and private investors to secure funding.
- Implement portfolio financing strategies that allow Pacifico to fund multiple projects while maintaining financial stability.
- Capital Markets & Investment Strategy
- Lead capital-raising activities through bond issuance, IPOs, and private placements, ensuring access to long-term funding
- Build relationships with institutional investors, private equity firms, and strategic investment partners to finance new and existing projects
- Oversee corporate and project bond issuances, working with underwriters and investment banks
- Identify opportunities for portfolio-wide securitization, green bonds, and ESG-linked finance structures
- Evaluate different business models for projects, including both onshore and offshore models, in collaboration and relation with legal and tax policy.
- Investor Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with private equity firms, venture capital, sovereign wealth funds, and strategic investors
- Develop investment presentations, financial models, and pitch decks to attract capital for new projects
- Government Relations & Regulatory Compliance
- Participate in negotiations on PPAs, Feed-in-Tariffs (FiT), and investment incentive frameworks for multiple projects
- Ensure compliance with Vietnamese and international financial regulations, coordinating with MOIT, MPI, and local authorities
- Manage engagement with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and financial policymakers to align project financing with national energy policies
- Investment policy support for bilateral US – Vietnam relationship.
- Investment Decision-Making for New Projects
- Participate in origination, screening, and selection of new investment opportunities in renewable energy and infrastructure
- Conduct financial feasibility studies, investment due diligence, and risk assessments for newly originated projects
- Participate in investment committee discussions, providing insights on capital structure, projected returns, and financing strategies
- Develop business cases and investment models for new projects, ensuring financial viability before committing capital
Collaborate with the project development team to structure deals, aligning financial planning with operational and regulatory requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or Engineering (with financial experience)
- MBA or CFA is highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or financial structuring.
- Proven track record in raising project financing (debt/equity), especially for renewable, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Experience working on debt structuring (non-recourse or limited-recourse project finance), capital markets transactions, including bond issuances, private placements, or IPOs.
- Strong network with commercial banks, development banks, and institutional investors.
Skills
- Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and project finance structuring.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with banks, investors and regulatory bodies.
- Deep knowledge of corporate finance, M&A, and debt/equity structuring.
- Knowledge of financial regulations, loan agreements, and investment frameworks.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to engage with C-level executives, investors, and government officials.
- Strong command of English and Vietnamese.
