JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Job Overview:
The Deputy Director of Business Development is responsible for leading the origination, development, and securing of utility-scale solar and onshore/nearshore) wind farm projects in Vietnam.
This role focuses on project origination, policy positioning, authority engagement, and securing development milestones up to investment readiness. The position requires a proven energy BD track record, extensive relationships with local authorities, deep policy and market intelligence capability, and strong management skills with a results-driven mindset.
- Key Responsibilities
A. Project Development & Securing
Project Origination & Site Evaluation
- Identify and evaluate potential solar and wind project sites though greenfield or M&A transaction.
- Assess resource potential, grid capacity, land availability, environmental constraints, and regulatory feasibility.
Project Securing & Authority Engagement
- Lead full project securing process, including planning alignment, investment approvals, and key development permits.
- Build and maintain extensive relationships with provincial and national authorities.
- Drive milestone management to ensure timely project advancement.
Feasibility & Commercial Structuring
- Oversee feasibility studies, EIA coordination, and development-stage due diligence.
- Lead negotiation of development agreements, land agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Support structuring of preliminary commercial framework (PPA, JV, cooperation agreements, etc.).
B. Business Development & Strategic Growth
- Portfolio & Pipeline Development
- Drive renewable energy growth strategy in Vietnam.
- Build and manage solar and wind project pipeline aligned with PDP and provincial planning.
2. Market Intelligence & Policy Analysis
- Maintain deep understanding of renewable energy policies, regulatory updates, and market dynamics.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on policy and market intelligence.
3. Stakeholder & Network Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, investors, and strategic partners.
- Represent the company in high-level meetings and industry forums.
4. Leadership & Execution Management
- Lead and supervise BD team members.
- Ensure disciplined execution and milestone tracking.
- Drive performance with strong accountability and measurable results.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Studies, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in energy project development, infrastructure projects, or related sectors.
- Experience working with local authorities or project permitting processes is an advantage.
- Familiarity with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or power infrastructure) is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Ability to conduct site screening and collect development-related data.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently in field-based development activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and project documentation.
