Pacifico Energy is proud to announce that our Korea team has successfully obtained the Electricity Business License (EBL) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea for the 420 MW Myeong Ryang Offshore Wind Project. This marks the first phase of a larger development cluster in Jindo with a total planned capacity of 3.2 GW.
Securing the EBL represents a major milestone in Korea’s highly competitive renewable energy market. It confirms the project’s boundaries and capacity, enabling key next steps such as environmental impact assessments, maritime safety approvals, and geotechnical surveys.
The Jindo Offshore Wind Cluster (3.2 GW) consists of three projects:
This is one of the largest offshore wind clusters under development in the Asia–Pacific region, underscoring Pacifico Energy’s technical strength and regional leadership.
This achievement demonstrates Pacifico’s ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and deliver large-scale offshore wind projects across Asia. With offshore wind projects underway in Korea, Japan, and Vietnam, Pacifico stands among the few international investors with regional offshore wind project development presence and expertise.
In Vietnam, Pacifico Energy has been actively advancing offshore wind initiatives with the strong support of the country’s top leadership. The company has received encouragement from both the General Secretary and the Prime Minister, who have recognized Pacifico’s readiness to deliver one of Vietnam’s first large-scale offshore wind projects.
Experience and credibility gained through the Korea project will further strengthen Pacifico’s collaboration with Vietnamese ministries and partners. We look forward to continued progress — including the early approval of site survey activities — to help accelerate Vietnam’s offshore wind development in line with Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) and the country’s ambitious blue economy goals.
Strong Commitment to Vietnam
From Mui Ne Solar to Sunpro Wind, and now major offshore wind initiatives, Pacifico Energy has steadily expanded its footprint and deepened its roots in Vietnam’s renewable energy landscape.
Operating in Vietnam since 2017, Pacifico has built a local team of Vietnamese professionals, forged long-term partnerships with national and provincial authorities, and delivered projects aligned with Vietnam’s policy direction under PDP 8. Our projects in Bến Tre, Bình Thuận, and other provinces reflect not only Pacifico’s technical capability but also our understanding of Vietnam’s regulatory, environmental, and community context.
We are committed to being a trusted, long-term partner of Vietnam — one that combines global expertise with local experience. Pacifico aims to contribute our technical knowledge, familiarity with enabling regulatory frameworks, and access to international financial resources to work closely with Vietnamese stakeholders in pioneering the offshore wind sector.
By doing so, we seek to help unlock Vietnam’s vast energy potential, support national energy security, and contribute to the country’s transition toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.
